According to the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC), which coordinates aid delivery to Gaza, the convoy includes more than 6,000 tons of food baskets and flour, 2,800 tons of medical and relief supplies, and 300 tons of fuel.
The dispatch comes amid renewed Israeli attacks on Gaza, with airstrikes targeting several areas and killing over 100 Palestinians overnight.
Israel claims the strikes come in response to Hamas' attack on its troops and violation of the ceasefire that took effect earlier in October.
The ceasefire agreement, brokered by Egypt, the United States, Qatar, and Turkey on 9 October following talks in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh, allows up to 600 aid trucks per day to enter Gaza.
However, the actual number of trucks entering Gaza each day ranges between 350 and 450, depending on inspection delays and security conditions at the crossings.
The United Nations estimates that at least 800 trucks are needed daily to help ease the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
On 22 August, the UN declared a famine in Gaza, the first in the Middle East.
Over two years of Israeli genocidal war, Egypt has been Gaza’s main lifeline, sending more than 45,000 trucks with over 600,000 tons of humanitarian supplies, which accounts for about 70 percent of all aid delivered to the strip.
On 27 July, the ERC launched the Zad Al-Ezza: From Egypt to Gaza initiative as part of Cairo’s continued efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The dispatched aid has included food, water, medicines, medical equipment, relief supplies, hygiene kits, shelter materials, baby formula, diapers, ambulances, and fuel trucks.
Egypt has also stepped up efforts to send bulldozers and engineering equipment into Gaza to remove debris, clear damaged roads, and maintain the flow of aid.
