Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s solidarity with Lebanon and called for the full, non-selective implementation of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1701, adopted in 2006, which mandates Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
The meeting also reviewed the latest regional developments, particularly the situation in Gaza. Abdelatty briefed Salam on Egypt’s efforts, in coordination with regional and international partners, to consolidate the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement and advance preparations for Gaza’s early recovery and reconstruction conference, due to be held in Cairo with broad Arab and international participation.
On bilateral relations, Abdelatty welcomed renewed momentum in Egyptian-Lebanese ties at the presidential and ministerial levels and expressed Cairo’s commitment to deepening cooperation across political, economic, and cultural fields.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of the Joint Higher Committee session for further strengthening cooperation and intensifying consultations on issues of common interest.
He also highlighted the importance of activating existing agreements and memoranda of understanding to boost trade and investment and achieve a “qualitative leap” in relations between the two countries.
