FM Abdelatty delivers message from President El-Sisi to Algerian President Tebboune

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty delivered on Wednesday to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria in Algiers a written message from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty delivered El-Sisi’s greeting and appreciation wishing Algeria continued progress and prosperity under President Tebboune’s leadership during the meeting.

The meeting underscored the deep-rooted and historic relations between Egypt and Algeria, which continue to gain momentum across political and economic fronts.

Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s keenness to expand cooperation in all fields and highlighted preparations for the ninth session of the Egyptian–Algerian Joint Higher Committee, set to convene in Cairo later this month, as a key opportunity to advance economic, trade, and investment collaboration.

The Egyptian foreign minister praised Algeria’s significant development progress, affirming Egypt’s readiness to engage its national companies in Algeria’s infrastructure and development projects, drawing on their expertise and efficiency.

He also commended Algeria’s effective role as a current member of the UN Security Council in defending Arab and African causes and promoting international solidarity.

Discussions also addressed regional and international developments, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.

FM Abdelatty briefed President Tebboune on the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and its landmark agreement to end the war in Gaza, stressing the importance of building on this achievement to secure a lasting ceasefire and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid ahead of reconstruction efforts.

He further noted ongoing preparations for the International Conference on Early Recovery, Reconstruction, and Development in Gaza, to be held in Cairo later this month with broad regional and international participation.

The Egyptian foreign minister emphasized that the conference aims to mobilize financial and technical support for rebuilding Gaza and restoring decent living conditions for its people, while commending Algeria’s steadfast stance in defending the Palestinian cause and rejecting any attempts to undermine Palestinian rights.

On the Libyan crisis, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s commitment to coordinating efforts with Algeria and Tunisia within the framework of the Tripartite Mechanism of Libya’s Neighbouring States, which will convene in Algiers on Thursday.

 He reaffirmed Egypt’s support for a Libyan-led political solution under UN auspices that preserves Libya’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, stressing the necessity of withdrawing all foreign fighters, mercenaries, and external forces from Libyan territory.

President Tebboune, for his part, conveyed his warm greetings and appreciation to President El-Sisi, lauding the enduring brotherly ties between the two nations and peoples.

He expressed Algeria’s aspiration to deepen bilateral cooperation and enhance coordination with Egypt on key Arab and African issues of mutual concern.

Minister Abdelatty also met on Wednesday with Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf, during his visit to Algiers to participate in the trilateral mechanism meeting of Libya’s neighbouring countries.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty reaffirmed the deep-rooted, historic relations between Egypt and Algeria and underscored the importance of thorough preparations for the upcoming ninth session of the Egyptian-Algerian Higher Joint Committee, scheduled to convene in Cairo later this month.

The meeting, he said, represents an opportunity to strengthen cooperation in key priority sectors, particularly in trade, investment, and economic development.

Abdelatty also expressed Egypt’s eagerness to expand developmental cooperation and exchange expertise with Algeria, noting that Egyptian companies stand ready to contribute to Algeria’s infrastructure and development projects, given their extensive experience in implementing major national projects.

The discussions also covered regional developments, foremost among them the Palestinian issue.

Abdelatty reviewed the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and the resulting historic agreement to end the war in Gaza, stressing the need to consolidate the ceasefire and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid ahead of the upcoming International Conference on Reconstruction and Early Recovery in Gaza, to be held in Cairo this month in coordination with regional and international partners.

He further emphasized the importance of continued coordination between Egypt and Algeria on Libya, supporting the Libyan-led political process and maintaining the regular convening of the tripartite mechanism meetings as a key platform for promoting Libya’s unity and stability.

Concluding the talks, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s commitment to ongoing consultation and coordination with Algeria on regional and international levels, and to supporting joint Arab and African efforts aimed at achieving security, stability, and sustainable development across the region.
