During the call, both sides addressed the latest developments in Sudan, where Abdelatty emphasised the need to open humanitarian corridors to facilitate the delivery of aid.

The Egyptian FM further reaffirmed Cairo’s steadfast position in support of the unity and stability of Sudan as well as its national institutions.

He highlighted Egypt’s efforts within the framework of the Quad mechanism to support de-escalation and reach a comprehensive ceasefire.

Abdelatty underscored the intensification of regional and international efforts to achieve a comprehensive humanitarian truce.

He also called for ensuring the flow of humanitarian and relief assistance across all parts of Sudan to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.

On 26 October, tensions surged in Sudan as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of El-Fasher, the army’s last major stronghold in North Darfur, after an 18-month siege.

The Sudanese Armed Forces, led by General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, have withdrawn from the city, raising concerns that the country could effectively split between rival authorities.

The city's fall hands the RSF full territorial dominance over the region, where the UN and rights groups have already reported mass atrocities, including ethnically targeted killings.

The war in Sudan, now in its third year, has devastated the country, killing tens of thousands, displacing over 15 million people, and creating what the UN describes as the world's largest displacement and hunger crises.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty and Cooper also discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip, where he emphasised the importance of consolidating the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement to end the war in the Strip.

The Egyptian FM noted the need to work toward the transition to the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan, highlighting Egypt’s intensive efforts in cooperation with regional and international partners in this regard.

He called for collective international action to ensure full implementation of the agreement’s provisions to end the war and ease the humanitarian suffering of Gaza’s population.

Abdelatty stressed the necessity of opening a genuine political horizon that fulfils the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state.

During the call, the Egyptian FM valued the historic step taken by the UK in recognising the Palestinian state.

He also reviewed ongoing preparations to host the International Conference on Reconstruction, Early Recovery, and Development in Gaza, scheduled to take place in Cairo.

Abdelatty looked forward to effective UK participation in the conference as one of the key participating and supporting nations.

He said the conference will serve as a pivotal step in mobilising international support for Gaza’s reconstruction efforts and launching a new path toward stability in the region.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the call touched on ways to strengthen bilateral relations, affirming the two sides' shared commitment to developing them to broader horizons.

They also emphasised the need for exchanging high-level visits to serve the interests of both countries and peoples, and to boost economic, trade, and investment cooperation between them.
