During the call, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s firm rejection of any infringement on Lebanon’s sovereignty or territorial integrity, stressing the importance of reducing tensions and prioritizing calm to safeguard Lebanon’s security and regional stability.
He reiterated Egypt’s steadfast support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, national unity, and independent decision-making, as well as for strengthening the role of state institutions to fully assume their responsibilities in preserving the country’s stability and protecting its people’s interests.
The call comes amid continued Israeli deadly strikes across Lebanon under the pretext of killing members of the Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah, in violation of the November 2024 ceasefire agreement.
On Saturday, three more Lebanese civilians were killed in Israeli strikes in various areas of Lebanon.
On Thursday, Hezbollah reaffirmed that it has a legitimate right to resist Israeli occupation, saying any discussion about restricting weapons should take place within a national framework and not under Israeli blackmail.
In a message addressed to Lebanon’s president, prime minister, and parliament, Hezbollah warned that “negotiating with Israel is a trap and a predicament and does not serve the country’s interests.”
