FM Abdelatty’s remarks came during his speech at the Kemet Boutros-Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge’s annual celebration on Thursday.
The foundation honours the legacy of the late Boutros Boutros-Ghali (1922-2016), one of the most prominent diplomatic and political figures in Egypt, Africa, and the Arab world.
Ghali, a professor of international law and international relations at Cairo University, served as state minister for foreign affairs from 1977 to 1991 before becoming UN secretary-general from 1992 to 1996.
During the event, FM Abdelatty addressed the latest regional developments. He emphasised Egypt’s resilience thanks to the vision of its political leadership, the effectiveness of its institutions, and the awareness and national unity of its people.
He noted that these factors combined have enabled Egypt to strengthen its security and stability, continue its economic development, and maintain a vital role in regional and international efforts to achieve peace and stability.

FM Abdelatty stressed the government and state institutions’ responsibility in advancing development under Egypt’s Vision 2030 and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Abdelatty also emphasised the importance of involving civil society and the private sector to ensure the success of these development efforts.
He highlighted Egypt’s leading role in cultural initiatives, pointing to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) as one of the country’s flagship soft-power projects in the modern era.
Abdelatty said the GEM embodies Egypt’s vision of dialogue and cultural interaction. It also reflects the interconnection between knowledge, thought, art, and the culture of peace, all of which lie at the heart of Egypt’s diplomatic work.

The Egyptian foreign ministry noted that during the celebration, Abdelatty congratulated the foundation's young honourees. He praised the symbolic significance of the recognition inspired by Ghali’s legacy, noting Ghali's unique combination of legal academic background and extensive international experience.
He highlighted Ghali’s pivotal role in post-October 1973 victory peace negotiations and his contributions to establishing peace based on dignity and the independence of national decision-making.
