In a phone call with Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel while Abdelatty was in Berlin on an official visit, he discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and ways to advance bilateral relations.
During the call, Abdelatty reaffirmed the importance of fully implementing the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement, consolidating the ceasefire, and moving forward with the execution of UN Security Council Resolution 2803 on Gaza.
This includes the deployment of the international stabilization force and support for reconstruction efforts, a foreign ministry statement added.
He also stressed the urgent need to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.
Additionally, Abdelatty held a meeting in Berlin on Tuesday with Günter Sauter, National Security Adviser at the German Chancellery, where he expressed his hope that Germany would take an active role in the conference.
Abdelatty also briefed Sauter on Egypt’s efforts to secure a ceasefire and advance implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
Egypt-Germany cooperation
According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty praised the strong and wide-ranging partnership between Egypt and Germany.
He noted that the launch of a new Foreign Ministers’ political consultation mechanism during this visit reflects the depth of bilateral ties and the shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation.
Abdelatty described Germany as one of Egypt’s most important partners, expressing hope for continued support and enhanced collaboration in the coming period.
The minister highlighted Egypt’s economic and infrastructure achievements in recent years and welcomed the role of German companies in supporting these efforts.
He underlined Egypt’s interest in expanding economic cooperation, attracting additional German investment, and localising key industries—especially automotive manufacturing—citing the incentives offered by the Egyptian government to foreign investors.
Abdelatty also stressed the importance of advancing cooperation in energy, renewable energy and climate action, as well as maintaining German involvement in Egypt’s infrastructure development projects.
He pointed to opportunities for collaboration on the mobility of skilled labour, describing it as a mutually beneficial area for both countries.
