The Egyptian statement came on Thursday during the visit of Sudanese Transitional Sovereign Council Head Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan to Cairo. The six points are as follows:
1. Egypt reaffirmed its full support for the vision of US President Donald Trump to achieve security, stability, and peace in Sudan, within his broader approach to promoting peace, preventing escalation, and resolving disputes worldwide.
2. In this context, Egypt is following with deep concern the continuation of the current state of escalation and severe tension in Sudan, and the resulting horrific massacres and blatant violations of the most basic rules of human rights against Sudanese civilians, particularly in El-Fasher.
3. Egypt affirmed that there are red lines that cannot be crossed or treated with leniency, as any such breach would directly affect Egypt’s national security, which is inextricably linked to Sudan’s national security.
4. Egypt stressed that preserving Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity, and preventing any tampering with its resources or those of the Sudanese people, constitutes one of the most important red lines, including the rejection of any attempt to allow the secession of any part of Sudanese territory. In the same context, it reiterated its categorical rejection of the establishment or recognition of any parallel entities, warning that such moves would undermine Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity.
5. Egypt further underscored that safeguarding Sudanese state institutions and preventing any harm to them represents another red line for Egypt. It also affirmed its full right to take all necessary measures and actions guaranteed by international law and the joint defence agreement between the two brotherly countries to ensure that these red lines are neither breached nor exceeded.
6. Egypt renewed its full commitment to continuing to work within the framework of the international quartet to reach a humanitarian truce that would lead to a ceasefire, including the establishment of safe humanitarian havens and corridors to provide security and protection for Sudanese civilians, in full coordination with Sudanese state institutions.
