Abdelatty made the remarks during separate phone calls with his Nigerian and Norwegian counterparts, Yusuf Tuggar and Espen Barth Eide.

During the calls, the Egyptian foreign ministry said Abdelatty described Israel’s unilateral move as a violation of international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter, warning that such actions could destabilize the Horn of Africa. He and his counterparts emphasized the need to respect state sovereignty and legitimate institutions in Somalia to preserve regional stability.

In a separate conversation with Eide, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s rejection of any unilateral actions that infringe on Somalia’s sovereignty or seek to impose parallel political entities outside the authority of the Somali state.

The two ministers agreed on the need to uphold state sovereignty and territorial integrity as a basis for international stability, the ministry said.

The calls also addressed a range of regional and international crises, including Israel's genocidal war on Gaza.

Abdelatty urged intensified international efforts to consolidate the Gaza ceasefire and move toward the second phase of the agreement, warning against actions that could undermine Palestinian territorial unity or alter realities on the ground in the occupied West Bank.

He condemned continued settlement expansion and settler violence against Palestinians, calling on the international community to act to halt escalation.

The Egyptian minister also stressed the need to ensure unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza and to create conditions for early recovery and reconstruction, while expressing appreciation for Norway’s support for Palestinian rights.

On Sudan, Abdelatty said Egypt was working through the Quad mechanism to push for a comprehensive ceasefire, reiterating Cairo’s support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and national institutions.

He also called on the international community to ensure safe humanitarian corridors and the delivery of aid to civilians.

The talks briefly touched on the war in Ukraine, with both ministers agreeing on the need for a negotiated political settlement to safeguard regional and international security.
