The convoy included 148,600 food parcels, 800 tons of flour, 1,800 tons of relief supplies, 200 tons of personal hygiene items, and 1,400 tons of fuel, according to the ERC, the national coordination body for aid delivery to Gaza.
To address severe winter conditions, including freezing temperatures, flooding, and inadequate shelter caused by mass displacement, the convoy also carried 13,200 winter clothing items and 3,200 tents.
The convoy, part of the Zad Al-Ezza initiative, comes in response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, worsened by Israel's ongoing violations of the fragile ceasefire deal with Hamas, brokered in October by Egypt, the US, Qatar, and Turkey.
The ongoing Israeli blockade led the UN to declare a state of famine in Gaza in August, the first in the Middle East, with the lack of food, clean water, and medical supplies leaving hundreds of thousands of children at risk of acute malnutrition.
Gaza’s health sector has also been devastated, as hospitals and medical centres have been repeatedly hit by Israeli attacks, forcing closures and leaving large parts of the population without essential medical care.
Ongoing Israeli airstrikes, severe winter storms, mass displacement, widespread famine, and the collapse of healthcare services have intensified the suffering of civilians, pushing the humanitarian situation in Gaza to unprecedented levels.
Since Israel launched its genocidal war in October 2023, Egypt has remained Gaza’s main lifeline, sending more than 45,000 trucks carrying over 780,000 tons of humanitarian and relief supplies, about 70 percent of all aid delivered to the strip.
On 27 July, the ERC launched the Zad Al-Ezza: From Egypt to Gaza initiative, part of Cairo’s ongoing commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The aid convoys have included food parcels, flour, water, baby formula, medicines, medical equipment, hygiene kits, shelter materials, and fuel.
