According to ministry spokesperson Tamim Khalaf, Abdelatty stressed the importance of supporting de-escalation and reducing tensions in Yemen, while backing the Yemeni national dialogue.
He underscored the need for a comprehensive political settlement through an inclusive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue that preserves Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and meets the aspirations of its people for security and stability.
The call also covered the situation in Sudan, with the two ministers emphasizing the importance of continued coordination within the quad mechanism, which includes Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the US, to push toward a humanitarian truce, the creation of safe humanitarian corridors and shelters, and ultimately a comprehensive ceasefire.
The ministers discussed developments in the Palestinian cause, particularly the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as ongoing efforts related to US President Donald Trump’s peace plan.
Abdelatty highlighted the depth of the fraternal relations between Egypt and the UAE, noting the close cooperation and continuous coordination between the two countries at various levels.
He stressed the shared commitment to build on the current positive momentum and further enhance bilateral cooperation in ways that serve the common interests of both peoples.
The two sides agreed to maintain close consultation and coordination on regional and international issues, in a manner that strengthens joint Arab action and contributes to regional stability.
Also on Monday, Abdelatty met with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, to discuss regional developments, as Cairo steps up diplomatic coordination with key Arab partners amid escalating regional crises.
During the meeting, Abdelatty and bin Farhan discussed developments in Yemen and Somalia, reaffirming their rejection of unilateral actions that undermine state sovereignty and stressing the need for negotiated political solutions to regional crises.
The two ministers voiced support for de-escalation and for an inclusive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue as the only viable path toward ending the conflict. Abdelatty emphasised the importance of a comprehensive political process, including a broad conference bringing together southern Yemeni components to address the southern issue, while underlining that any settlement must preserve Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity and fulfil the aspirations of its people for security and stability.
During his meeting with bin Farhan on Monday, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi commended Saudi Arabia for its efforts to host a broad-based conference bringing together South Yemeni parties to address the southern issue.
