Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit reiterated the League’s categorical rejection of any official or quasi-official dealings with the authorities of the secessionist region outside the framework of Somalia’s national sovereignty.
He warned that such actions threaten regional peace and security and could heighten political tensions in Somalia, the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Horn of Africa, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
Official spokesperson Gamal Roshdy said the visit had already been deemed null and unacceptable by the League’s council on 28 December 2025, and criticized it as facilitating forced displacement of Palestinians and opening Somali ports to foreign military bases.
The League affirmed it would continue providing political and technical support to Somalia’s institutions to confront any attempts to create new flashpoints of conflict or violate vital Arab maritime corridors.
