Abdelatty congratulated Traoré on Burkina Faso assuming the rotating presidency of the Alliance of Sahel States, and said Egypt was keen to deepen ties with Ouagadougou, citing longstanding relations between the two countries.

He highlighted the importance of expanding trade and strengthening direct links between business communities, including opening opportunities for Egyptian companies to invest in sectors such as healthcare, infrastructure, energy, mining, and construction.

Abdelatty also called for follow-up on outcomes from recent business forums and Egypt’s high-level visits to West Africa that included private-sector delegations.

On security, the Egyptian foreign minister reaffirmed support for Burkina Faso’s counterterrorism campaign, pointing to ongoing military and security cooperation as well as training and capacity-building programmes run by Egyptian institutions.

He cited initiatives carried out by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding.

Abdelatty also referred to Al-Azhar’s activities in Burkina Faso, including religious training programmes and scholarships for Burkinabe students, describing them as part of broader cultural and educational engagement.

The call ended with both sides agreeing to continue coordination at the bilateral and multilateral levels on security, stability, and development in Burkina Faso and across Africa.
