According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, the two sides discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty reviewed Cairo’s efforts to implement the commitments of the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan in the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
He emphasized the importance of transitioning to the arrangements of the next phase, including the formation of a temporary Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the daily affairs of citizens in Gaza and the establishment of an international stabilization force.
Furthermore, the Egyptian FM highlighted Cairo’s efforts to ensure the flow of sufficient amounts of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid to Gaza. He also indicated that Egypt leads the effort to launch an early recovery and reconstruction process in the Strip.
Moreover, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s rejection of any practices that could undermine the unity of Palestinian territory or lead to the division of the Gaza Strip.
Egypt-EU partnership
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, both sides discussed strengthening ties between Egypt and the EU.
Abdelatty stressed that the first Egypt–EU summit, held in Brussels in October, provided strong momentum for cooperation. He cited the implementation of the six pillars of the Egypt-EU comprehensive and strategic partnership as one of the most significant outcomes of the summit.
During the call, the Egyptian FM and Šuica also discussed the action plan for the Mediterranean Pact. Launched in November, the pact aims to enhance integration among Mediterranean countries, address shared challenges, and capitalize on economic, social, and cultural opportunities.
Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s vision for the pact in that regard, as well as several proposed projects and initiatives.
He expressed Egypt’s aspiration to strengthen economic, investment, and trade cooperation with the EU, particularly through granting Egyptian exports access to European markets.
Finally, the Egyptian FM underscored developing pathways for regular migration, linking migration to development, and addressing the root causes of irregular migration.
