The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC), which coordinates aid deliveries to Gaza, stated that the convoy carried about 2,960 tonnes of food parcels and flour, 3,020 tonnes of medical and relief supplies, and 1,140 tonnes of fuel.
The shipment also included winter supplies such as clothing, blankets, mattresses, and tents, as Gaza faces freezing temperatures and widespread displacement, the ERC said.
The delivery comes a day after the Rafah border crossing reopened on the Palestinian side for the first time since May 2024, allowing injured Palestinians to enter Egypt for medical treatment and enabling some Gaza residents to return to the strip.
Since October 2023, Egypt has served as Gaza’s main conduit for humanitarian assistance. The ERC says it has delivered more than 800,000 tonnes of aid through 65,000 volunteers, accounting for roughly 70 percent of all relief entering the enclave.
The latest aid convoy comes as Israel continues its assault on Gaza, in direct violations of the 10 October ceasefire agreement brokered by Cairo, Doha, Ankara, and Washington in October, and further exacerbates an already dire humanitarian crisis.
Since the ceasefire came into effect, Israel has committed over 1,450 violations of the truce and killed more than 509 Palestinians.
This brings the total Palestinian death toll since the outbreak of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023 to at least 71,769 Palestinians, with 171,483 others injured, most of them women and children.
