President El-Sisi described President Tebboune’s remarks as reflecting the deep historical bonds between Egypt and Algeria.

“The ties our two nations share embody a rich legacy of struggle and cooperation in addressing common challenges and reaffirm that solidarity among brothers is the true safeguard for preserving the interests of our peoples and strengthening the stability of our homelands,” President El-Sisi wrote on his official Facebook page.

El-Sisi’s comments came in response to Tebboune’s recent statements highlighting the long-standing relationship between Algiers and Cairo, describing it as a partnership built on decades of shared history and integration.

In TV remarks on Saturday, President Tebboune referred to President El-Sisi as “a brother,” underscoring his appreciation for the Egyptian people.

He highlighted the historic ties between the leaders of both nations, noting that Algeria and Egypt continue the approach of former leaders Houari Boumédiène, Gamal Abdel-Nasser, and Anwar El-Sadat.

Recalling Egypt’s support during the Algerian-Moroccan 1963 conflict, Tebboune said the Egyptian army was the first to assist, deploying aircraft and tanks. He added that he personally witnessed the Egyptian military presence at the time, noting that former president Hosni Mubarak was serving as a pilot.

Tebboune emphasized that Algeria and Egypt stand “in the same trench,” asserting that any harm to Egypt would be considered harm to Algeria and firmly rejecting any form of aggression against Egypt.

Egypt and Algeria share long-standing and close bilateral relations, marked by frequent high-level visits and strong political, economic, and cultural ties.

The two countries maintain active diplomatic engagement, with leaders regularly meeting to strengthen cooperation on regional and global issues.

The most recent visit by President Tebboune to Cairo took place in October 2024, during which he met with President El-Sisi to discuss shared priorities and strategic partnership.

Conversely, President El-Sisi visited Algeria in November 2022 to attend the Arab League summit, highlighting the importance both nations place on collaboration.
