The efforts included providing relief services to Palestinian wounded and patients arriving for medical treatment, helping them complete crossing procedures, and offering psychological support for children, according to the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC).
The 140th convoy, launched under the “Zad Al-Ezza: From Egypt to Gaza” initiative, carried comprehensive humanitarian aid, including over 253,000 food parcels, 370 tons of flour, 585 tons of relief and medical supplies, 135 tons of personal care items, and 1,130 tons of fuel to keep hospitals and vital facilities operational in the strip.
It also delivered essential winter supplies to help residents cope with harsh weather, including 5,820 winter clothing items, 565 blankets, and 2,120 tents, an ERC statement said.
The aid effort comes as the Rafah crossing reopened from the Palestinian side earlier this month, allowing wounded Palestinians to travel to Egypt for treatment and enabling residents to return to Gaza.
The crossing reopening, the first since May 2024, is part of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, signed during Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace in October.
Since October 2023, Egypt has delivered more than 800,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza, around 70 percent of all aid sent to the strip, supported by more than 65,000 ERC volunteers.
Meanwhile, Israel has continued its attacks on Gaza, violating the ceasefire deal brokered by Egypt, the US, Qatar, and Turkey in October, carrying out airstrikes across the strip, and worsening the humanitarian crisis.
