In an official statement issued on Monday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the “terrorist attacks” reportedly carried out by Iran against Emirati territory.
The statement said the strikes led to a fire at a fuel facility in the Emirate of Fujairah and caused a number of injuries.
Cairo reaffirmed its full solidarity with the UAE and expressed support for all measures taken by Abu Dhabi to safeguard its security and sovereignty. It also rejected any actions that aim to intimidate civilians or undermine stability in the Gulf region.
Egypt warned of the grave consequences of such attacks, stressing that they represent a dangerous escalation that could hinder de-escalation efforts and violate the principles of international law and the UN Charter.
The statement reiterated Egypt’s commitment to protecting regional security and its continued support for efforts aimed at preserving stability across the Gulf.
Earlier Monday, Egypt condemned an attack targeting an Emirati oil tanker while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a threat to regional security, global energy supplies, and freedom of navigation.
Iran fired more than 2,800 drones and missiles at the UAE since 28 February, when the US-Israel war on Iran began, until a ceasefire took effect on 8 April, making the UAE the most targeted country by Tehran’s retaliatory strikes.
