In a statement, Egypt's Foreign Ministry described the attacks as a violation of Bahrain's sovereignty and warned that they risk further escalating tensions in the region.

The ministry expressed Egypt's full solodarity for Bahrain and said Cairo stood behind measures taken by Manama to protect its citizens and critical infrastructure.

Egypt also reiterated its opposition to actions that undermine the sovereignty, security or territorial integrity of Arab states, adding that the security of Gulf countries is closely linked to Egypt's national security.

The statement came after the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force said its air defence systems had intercepted and destroyed three Iranian missiles and several drones aimed at civilian locations in the kingdom.

The reported attack is part of a broader escalation linked to the US-Israeli war on Iran. Iran has recently launched strikes targeting Gulf states, including Bahrain and Kuwait, according to regional officials.

The latest developments have raised concerns about the conflict spreading further across the Gulf, a region that hosts key energy infrastructure and major international shipping routes.
