The sources said the meeting, which includes representatives from all Palestinian factions, is discussing ways to implement the second phase of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement.
They added that Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey are making intensive efforts to break the deadlock over implementing the agreement's provisions.
On Friday, a senior Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo, headed by the resistance movement's Gaza leader, Khalil Al-Hayya. The delegation also included the head of the movement in the West Bank, Zaher Jabarin, and two members of its political bureau, namely Hossam Badran and Ghazi Hamad.
According to a statement by the resistance movement, the talks aim to advance the Gaza ceasefire deal. They also aim to complete the process of implementation of the deal's first phase and move forward to its second phase.
Discussions with Palestinian factions are also set to coordinate a unified national position on key issues and discuss ways to address the challenges facing the Palestinian people.
Since Israel launched its brutal aggression on Gaza in October 2023, Egypt, alongside Qatar, Turkey, and the US, has played a central mediating role in efforts to secure and sustain the Gaza ceasefire deal, which was signed during the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace in October 2025.
According to the Palestinian news agency (WAFA), Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed 72,971 people and wounded 173,128 others. At the same time, an unknown number of victims remain trapped under rubble or in areas inaccessible to rescue crews.
