During the meeting, both sides reviewed the course of the US-Iran talks and the proposed elements of the deal currently under negotiation between Washington and Tehran.
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Abdelatty and Al-Thani also addressed joint efforts to support the diplomatic track and bridge differences between the parties concerned.
They affirmed the necessity of reaching mutually acceptable understandings that would help de-escalate tensions, end the war, and restore security and stability in the region.
During the meeting, the Egyptian and Qatari top diplomats also addressed the Israeli war on Gaza, where they underscored the importance of implementing the commitments of the first phase of the US President Donald Trump plan.
These commitments, they noted, include the entry of humanitarian aid and early recovery supplies into Gaza, and the rehabilitation of infrastructure and hospitals, as well as ensuring the gradual Israeli withdrawal from the strip.
Both sides further stressed the importance of enabling the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to carry out its temporary duties from inside the strip.
They also emphasized the importance of deploying an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire.
These steps, they noted, would ultimately enable the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and establish an independent state on the June 1967 borders.
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, the meeting also touched on ways to enhance cooperation and bilateral relations and build on the growing momentum in Egyptian-Qatari ties.
Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and consultations on various regional issues in a manner that serves their shared interests and safeguards Arab national security.
Al-Thani’s visit to Egypt comes as Cairo is hosting a meeting between Palestinian factions and mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey to discuss ways to implement the second phase of the Gaza agreement, according to Al Qahera News.
