The Egyptian FM condemned the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, stressing Egypt’s firm position that calls for a full Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territories.
Abdelatty added that any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty or infringement on its unity and territorial integrity constitutes a blatant breach of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
He also emphasized the importance of supporting Lebanese national state institutions, particularly the Lebanese Army, to enable it to assume its responsibilities in extending state authority and sovereignty over all Lebanese territory.
Moreover, the Egyptian FM stressed the need to ensure that weapons remain exclusively in the hands of the Lebanese state as a fundamental pillar for maintaining Lebanon’s security and stability and preserving the resources of the Lebanese people.
The call comes after Israel renewed its attacks on Lebanon, days after both governments agreed on 3 June in Washington to a conditional truce framework.
The framework includes establishing pilot security zones in the south controlled exclusively by the Lebanese army.
Since 2 March, Israel has killed at least 3,666 people in Lebanon, injured 11,321, and forcibly displaced over 1.4 million.
