According to Egypt's foreign ministry, Abdelatty said the agreement should be followed by Israel's gradual withdrawal from the remaining areas it occupies in southern Lebanon, allowing the Lebanese army to deploy across the territory and extend state authority.
He also called for the full implementation of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah and calls for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory alongside the deployment of the Lebanese army in the south.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for the Lebanese government and its efforts to strengthen state sovereignty across the country, including the deployment of the national army and ensuring that weapons remain under state control.
The Egyptian foreign ministry said Salam thanked Cairo for its continued support for Lebanon and expressed his government's commitment to maintaining coordination with Egypt on issues of mutual interest.
The phone call came hours after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio joined the Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors in Washington to announce the framework agreement, which officials described as an initial step towards ending months of cross-border fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.
The agreement follows months of relentless Israeli strikes on Lebanon, which have killed at least 4,106 people since 2 March, injured thousands of others, and displaced 1.4 million Lebanese.
