According to Al-Qahera News, a Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo earlier on Tuesday to resume talks on the roadmap for implementing the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal, which was brokered by Cairo, Doha, Ankara, and Washington and signed during the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace on 10 October.
The talks, Al-Qahera News reported, were described as positive, with considerable optimism over completing the implementation of US President Donald Trump's peace plan.
During the talks, Hamas leaders affirmed their full support for implementing the US President’s plan and overcoming all obstacles facing its execution.
Under phase one of the deal, Hamas and Israel agreed to a ceasefire, a prisoner exchange, increased humanitarian aid, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
However, Israel has violated the deal daily, conducting daily strikes across Gaza, obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and not only refusing to withdraw from the strip but also gradually expanding the so-called “Yellow Line” it’s currently occupying.
Separately, Rashad and Kalın held a meeting to discuss several issues of mutual interest, including developments in Libya, where they stressed the need to intensify joint efforts to reach a comprehensive settlement to the region's crises.
Egypt has consistently reaffirmed its support for a comprehensive Libyan-led political process, affirming the need for a settlement that reflects the aspirations of the Libyan people and paves the way for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.
