During a visit to Alexandria, the premier said several buildings and platforms were established at the ports of Dekheila and Alexandria to carry out the necessary examination of shipments at the port and decrease the time of customs clearance.

Madbouly said the port system has been significantly developed to turn Egypt into a global hub.
Before the introduction of the new system, wheat shipments, for example, were tested at labs in Cairo, a procedure that took about three weeks, Madbouly said. The vessel, meanwhile, would have to sail out of the port and dock at sea until the test results were out, he added. 

At present, Madbouly noted, samples are examined at the port's labs and the results are out in a record time, he noted.

The premier stated that several memoranda of understanding were signed with companies to manage the new and developed platforms.

He underlined the importance of the project of developing the fish market to boost revenues within two and half years. The project is also meant to curb environmental problems resulting from the random work of the fish market, he added.

Madbouly inspected the building of Alexandria First Instance Court after its restoration, lauding the preservation of its unique style and facade. 

Moreover, the premier followed up on the ongoing projects of the integrated rainwater management strategy in Alexandria.

Seven rainwater management projects were designed as part of the first phase of the strategy, Alexandria Governor Mohamed El-Sherif said.

The strategy is based on the partial separation of rain and sewage networks in some areas to reduce cost and time, he added.

El-Sherif noted that the partial separation is expected to absorb about 30-40 percent of rainwater and end traffic congestion in 45 areas in the Mediterranean city.
