ENR is an American magazine specialised in covering news and performing professional analysis on construction projects in the world, making it one of the most trusted periodicals in the construction industry. The magazine prepares an annual classification about the largest companies of contracting, engineering designs, and major construction projects in the United States as well as around the world.

Minister of Housing Assem El-Gazzar praised the announcement, asserting that the Egyptian companies’ winning of such international awards reflects the country's success in implementing giant projects in various fields, according to a statement released by the ministry.

The state-owned construction giant Arab Contractors received an award of Best Global Project in the rail/transit category for its work on the Adly Mansour Interchange Station.

Adly Mansour Interchange Station connects the New Administrative Capital (NAC) with various cities and governorates.

The Arab Contractors also received two awards of merits – one for the Islamic Cultural Centre (The Misr Mosque) in the NAC, which was implemented under the supervision of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces; and a second for the renovation of the Mahmoud Khalil Museum.

The prestigious art museum, which opened in the palace of Mahmoud Khalil Pasha in 1962, is dedicated to the memory of the politician/arts-collector and his wife Emiline Lock.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Cultural Centre is built on an area of 19,100 square metres and accommodates 12,000 worshippers.

Secondly, the privately-owned giant construction company Orascom won an award of Best Global Project in the power and industrial category for its work on the Ras Ghareb Wind Farm.

The project was established to construct and manage a greenfield wind farm project comprising 125 wind turbines to produce 250 MW. It is located near the Gulf of Suez, 20 km southwest of Ras Ghareb city, on the Red Sea.

Finally, the privately-owned construction giant Hassan Allam Holding Company received an award of merit in the environmental category for its role in developing Toshka projects.

According to its website, Hassan Allam completed water and irrigation infrastructure for more than 160,000 acres in Toshka in 2021, playing an instrumental role in the national initiative for the reclamation of thousands of acres, which will produce wheat and other strategic crops.
