Giant cranes are removing the rubble from the bridge to unblock traffic on the highway in west Shoubra Al-Kheima district, where the incident took place, the governor said.

He added that search is underway for the excavator that hit the bridge and caused the accident.

Traffic coming from Qalioub city in the south of the governorate is redirected to the Ring Road then Tahya Misr Bridge, while vehicles coming from Mazallat area are redirected toward Sharkawiya Bridge then the Ring Road, the governor said.

El-Haggan ordered the formation of an engineering committee to inspect the scene and prepare a full report on the incident.
