The announcement was made by RATP Dev Mobility Cairo (RDMC), the company in charge of operating the third metro line.

The statement did not specify the exact time the last eastbound and westbound trains would depart their respective stations.

The company said the decision comes in response to its marketing surveys and as part of its ongoing efforts to provide the best possible service for its passengers.

It also comes under the directives of Egypt's Ministry of Transportation and under the supervision of Egypt's National Authority for Tunnels (NAT).

In early November, the third line received the green light to begin experimental operation of the final stage of its third phase

This stage comprises 11 stations and extends for a combined 13.7 km, serving highly populous areas in the Giza governorate, including Imbaba, El-Bohi, and Gameat Al-Dewal Al-Arabiya (Arab League’s street) until Cairo University.

The first stage of the line’s third phase opened to the public in October 2022, extending the line from Nasser station in downtown Cairo to Kit Kat.

This third line is integrated with other metro lines and public transport means across Egypt, connecting passengers at Nasser station with the first metro line, and at Attaba station with the second line.

In August, Egypt secured a €64 million loan from South Korea to facilitate the importing of 32 trains intended for Cairo Metro third line.
