  • In late December 2021, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the first phase of New Aswan City in Aswan governorate as part of Egypt’s strategy for constructing new cities.
  • Located on the west bank of the Nile, 12 km away from Aswan, New Aswan City occupies 22,000 feddans and is planned to house nearly 850,000 people according to the New Urban Communities Authority.
  • The project includes its own Nile Corniche, named the Tourist Nile Promenade, stretching over 1,050 acres.
  • The promenade consists of two villa zones with 150 villas, a cycling path, shopping areas, and a six-kilometre Nile promenade with a direct view of the Nile Corniche.
  • The project includes tourist bazaars, shops, cafes, pedestrian tunnels, marinas, children's play areas, pedestrian walkways, wooden pergolas, and parking areas.
  • Additionally, it includes an open-air theatre with a capacity of 3,000 spectators and a panoramic view of the Nile, complemented by a parking area for 300 cars.
  • Pedestrian bridges will connect the Nile promenade with the villa area.
  • There are also healthcare facilities within the project designed to attract medical tourists to Aswan.
