The Mediterranean Sea is witnessing wind intensity ranging between 20-25 knots from the southeast, with wave heights reaching 3-4 metres, creating severely rough sea conditions.
Maritime navigation and all related activities, including both small and large maritime units, have been suspended to ensure the safety of navigation, the authority added.
The Head of the Red Sea Ports Authority, Mohamed Abdel-Rehim, issued strict instructions to port directors to implement necessary preventive measures for the safety of navigational markers at port entrances and exits.
The directors were also instructed to coordinate with Egypt’s Meteorological Authority (EMA) to monitor the weather map for maritime navigation safety.
According to the EMA, many governorates in the northern region, including Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, and Port Said, are expected to witness medium to heavy – and possibly thunder – rains until evening on Saturday and Sunday.
In Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the North Coast, the Suez Canal, and northern Upper Egypt, intermittent strong wind loaded with dust and sand is also expected.
