The authorities said that the microbus overturned on the Cairo-Assiut western desert road after one of its tyres burst while the driver exceeded the speed limit.
The injured were transported to the 6th of October City Central Hospital in Giza, while the deceased were taken to the morgue of Tamia Central Hospital in Fayoum.
The Public Prosecution is investigating the incident.
Road accident injuries in Egypt increased by 8.7 percent rise in 2022 compared to the previous year, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).
In recent years, the government has initiated a plan to expand and upgrade the country’s road network, along with improving road safety measures to reduce road mishaps.
