On Saturday night, airspaces were shut in Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Iran due to the Iranian attack on Israel, leading airlines either to cancel or divert flights, including to Cairo International Airport.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Minister Mohamed Abbas Helmi announced that the airport handled around 94,000 passengers that day, marking the highest rates in travel and arrivals in the history of Cairo International Airport.

The previous record was set last April, when 82,000 passengers passed through the airport.

Helmi praised all airport staff for their outstanding performance and efforts in handling passenger numbers.

The minister also commended the efforts of all security agencies, customs authorities, EgyptAir Ground Services Company, EAS Aviation Services Company, and all airlines operating at Cairo International Airport for their good coordination and cooperation.

He also highlighted the airport’s strong infrastructure accommodated increased traffic.
