Shoukry directed all public prosecutor offices to give sufficient attention to speeding offences and to take all legal measures against their perpetrators.

This includes imposing fines based on the severity of the violation.

Furthermore, he instructed that those who blatantly exceed the recommended speed limits be brought to criminal trial.

According to the statement, these directives were issued in response to the recent increase in dangerous traffic accidents primarily caused by speeding.

Four people were killed, and 11 others were injured on Saturday in a multi-vehicle crash south of Cairo, which also left 18 cars damaged.

Road accident injuries in Egypt increased by 8.7 percent rise in 2022 compared to the previous year, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).
