Six killed, 11 injured in microbus-truck collision in Upper Egypt

Six people were killed and 11 others were injured after a microbus collided with a truck near Upper Egypt's Qena on Monday morning.

The accident occurred on the Qift-Al-Qusayr Road, a main axis connecting Qena and the Red Sea governorates.

Initial investigations revealed that the accident was caused by the explosion of one of the microbus tyres.

First responders arrived at the scene and transported the victims to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

The microbus driver and five passengers were killed in the collision.

Fatalities resulting from road accidents in Egypt in 2023 declined to 5,861, from 7,762 in 2022, while injuries increased to 71,016, from 55,991, in the same period, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
