This decision comes after an official notification from Iranian authorities, alerting global civil aviation companies about the planned drills.
The military exercises are scheduled to take place on August 7 and 8, 2024. The exercises will occur from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM on August 7, and from 4:30 AM to 7:30 AM on August 8, according to Tehran time.
In response to this notification, the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of its passengers and adhere to international safety standards.
The authority has issued an official notice to all Egyptian airlines, instructing them to steer clear of Iranian airspace during the specified periods to mitigate any potential risks to flight safety.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation added that it continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as necessary.
This precautionary measure comes as many airlines are adjusting their schedules to avoid Iranian and Lebanese airspace, with some cancelling flights to Israel and Lebanon due to fears of a broader conflict following the assassination of senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah by Israel last week.
According to Reuters, Jordanian authorities issued instructions on Sunday to all airlines landing at the kingdom's airports to carry fuel to fly an additional 45 minutes before landing.
