The body was located three kilometres from the Samalout Canal, authorities said.
An ambulance was dispatched to transport the body to a nearby hospital’s morgue under the supervision of the investigating authorities.
On Sunday, a locomotive en route from Qena crashed into the rear of a passenger train travelling from Aswan to Cairo, derailing two carriages into a watercourse, reported Egyptian National Railways (ENR).
The tragic incident has left 20 injured, who according to the Ministry of Health and Population encountered bruises, abrasions, and minor wounds.
A committee of railway specialists was formed to determine the technical causes of the accident, as directed by the Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El-Wazir.
El-Wazir also announced that those involved in the Minya train collision would be referred to the public prosecution, emphasizing that all individuals involved, including drivers, tower observers, and operation engineers, would be brought to trial and face strict penalties.
Additionally, Prosecutor General Mohamed Shawki ordered Sunday the detention of the locomotive driver and mandated that he undergo a drug test.
