The incident occurred at kilometre 19, south of Alamein, while the truck was heading towards the Alamein Road.
The Ministry of Health officials in Matrouh coordinated with the Alamein Model Hospital as soon as the accident was reported.
They affirmed that the operations room immediately dispatched 11 ambulances to transport all the injured and deceased to the Alamein Model Hospital.
The hospital prepared medical and nursing teams, secured sufficient blood supplies, and got ready for any emergency surgeries that might be required for the injured.
It also took the necessary measures to expedite the release of the deceased to their families.
Meanwhile, Matrouh Governor Major General Khaled Shuaib directed the hospital to provide all the necessary medical and therapeutic care to the injured.
He also extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
After an official report was filed, the Public Prosecution was notified to begin the investigation.
Road accident fatalities in Egypt decreased to 5,861 in 2023, down from 7,762 in 2022.
However, the number of injuries increased from 55,991 in 2022 to 71,016 in 2023, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
