The ministry indicated that the maximum load on Tuesday reached 39,500 MW, surpassing Monday’s record of 38,900 MW by 600 MW.
This marks the highest load ever handled by Egypt’s national electricity network, exceeding 2024’s peak of 38,000 MW, as recorded by the National Energy Control Centre (NECC).
The ministry credited the achievement of the national grid to phased operational plans and measures implemented over recent months to cope with the extreme summer heatwaves.
These include adherence to global efficiency standards, completion of scheduled maintenance programmes, and enhanced readiness across generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
The NECC reports described the recent daily increases in electricity demand as “unprecedented.”
Minister of Electricity Mahmoud Esmat closely monitored the situation and instructed officials to intensively deploy technical support, emergency teams, safety and occupational health units, and inspection committees from the ministry and the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company.
According to Esmat, this aims to ensure a stable power supply across all governorates and respond swiftly to any issues reported through the integrated complaints system.
The minister also directed company heads and power sector officials nationwide to be always present on-site to oversee operations during the heatwave.
In this respect, he emphasized the collective commitment of electricity sector staff to maintain the grid's resilience and secure power supply in line with quality and continuity standards.
