Egypt reports 837 new Covid-19 cases, 37 deaths on Sunday

Egypt reported 837 new coronavirus cases on Sunday bringing the total infection tally officially to 312,413 since the outbreak began in February 2020, said Health Ministry in its daily coronavirus update statement.

Egypt’s Health Ministry also reported that 37 new deaths related to Covid-19 complications were officially recorded in the past 24 hours nationwide, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 17,695

The statement added that 903 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 263,557.

Earlier Sunday, millions of school and university students began their academic year nationwide attending classes in full capacity for the first time in 18 months as the country is witnessing a surge of coronavirus cases due to the fourth wave of pandemic

According to Minister of Education Tarek Shawky, the government managed to vaccinate one million teachers prior to the start of the academic year in schools.
