Egypt reports 923 new coronavirus cases, 55 deaths on Thursday

The numbers of Coronavirus cases continue to escalate as Egypt reported 923 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total infection tally officially to 328,209 since the outbreak began in February 2020.

The ministry also recorded new 55 COVID-19 related deaths over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus since the start of the pandemic to 18,483.

The statement added that 433 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 276,801.

On Tuesday, the president's adviser for health affairs Dr Awad Tag El-Din said Egypt has vaccinated between 23-24 million citizens so far nationwide.

Egypt targets to vaccinate 40 million citizens by the end of the year, allocating around 1,100 vaccination centres nationwide.
