Egypt reports 921 new coronavirus cases, 58 deaths on Tuesday

Egypt reported 921 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing the total infection tally officially to 332,889 since the outbreak began in February 2020.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said that 58 new deaths related to COVID-19 complications were recorded in the past 24 hours nationwide, raising the total number of fatalities from the virus to 18,769.

As many as 644 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, the ministry said, bringing the total number of recoveries to 279,823.

Earlier on Tuesday, Cabinet spokesman Nader Saad stated 12 million citizens received two doses of the COVID-9 vaccines while 25 million citizens received one dose so far.

The government also announced it would start vaccinating teens aged between 15 to 18 at schools nationwide from Wednesday as the country is expanding its mass vaccination campaign against COVID-19.
