Egypt records highest coronavirus death toll since mid-2020

Egypt registered 69 fatalities on Saturday, the highest single-day rise of coronavirus deaths since 14 July 2020 when 73 fatalities were reported.

Egypt registered 69 fatalities on Saturday, the highest single-day rise of coronavirus deaths since 14 July 2020 when 73 fatalities were reported.

The country’s total number of deaths from the virus has reached 19,435, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health.

Egypt – which is going through the peak of the fourth wave – has seen a rise in its daily infections since early August when the wave started.

On Saturday, the health ministry reported 929 new cases, raising the country’s total infection tally to 343,026 since the outbreak in early 2020.

As many as 543 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, the ministry said, raising the total number of recoveries to 286,891.
