Egypt reported 935 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, bringing the total infection tally officially to 343,91 since the outbreak began in February 2020, said the Health Ministry in its daily coronavirus update statement.

Egypt’s Health Ministry reported in its daily coronavirus statement that 64 new deaths related to Covid-19 complications were recorded officially in the past 24 hours nationwide, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 19,499.

The statement added that 791 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 287,682.

The country, currently going through the peak of the pandemic's fourth wave, is stepping up efforts to vaccinate up to 40 million citizens by the end of 2021. Nearly 38 coronavirus vaccine doses have been administered to 25 million citizens since the start of the vaccination campaign earlier this year.

Starting Monday,  unvaccinated employees in Egypt’s public sector will not be allowed to enter their workplace unless they are officially vaccinated or present a negative PCR test every week.
