The ministry also reported 57 new COVID-linked deaths in the past 24 hours nationwide, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 20,109.
The statement added that 239 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 293,613.
On the other hand , Egypt has administered 44.2 million shots according to High Education Minister and acting health minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar.
Abdel Ghaffar added that Egypt secured a total of 80.5 million doses of WHO-approved Covid-19 vaccines.
On Wednesday, the government approved administering third booster shots of the coronavirus vaccines for the most vulnerable groups in the country.
