Egypt reports 919 new coronavirus cases, 57 deaths on Thursday

Egypt reported 919 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total infection tally officially to 360435 since the outbreak began in February 2020, said Health Ministry in its daily coronavirus update statement.

The ministry reported in its daily coronavirus statement that 57 new deaths related to COVID-19 complications were recorded officially in the past 24 hours nationwide, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 20594.

The statement added that 781 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 298865.

Egypt has secured almost all coronavirus vaccine types, including Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Hohnson.

So far, the country has administered 45 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine since the start of its vaccination campaign, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar said on Thursday.
