Egypt reports 903 new coronavirus cases, 49 deaths on Monday

Egypt reported 903 new coronavirus cases on Monday bringing the total infection tally officially to 376,233 since the outbreak began in February 2020.


Egypt’s Health Ministry reported in its daily coronavirus statement that 49 new deaths related to Covid-19 complications were recorded officially in the past 24 hours nationwide, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 21,410.

The statement added that 760 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 313,051.

In media statements on Monday, AstraZeneca Egypt director Hatem El-Wardany revealed that Egypt had talks with AstraZeneca for the past four months in order to be among the first countries to get the company's Covid-19 antibody treatment "Evusheld"

El-Wardany added that the treatment " Evusheld" was authorised for emergency use by US Food & Drugs Administration (FDA) earlier in December and that the Egyptian Drugs Authority was currently conducting its researches on the treatment in Egypt before its release in the country.
