Egypt’s Health Ministry reported in its daily coronavirus statement that 10 new deaths related to Covid-19 complications were recorded officially in the past 24 hours nationwide, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 21,150.
This is the lowest death toll recorded in Egypt since mid-September 2021.
The statement added that 542 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 314,994.
Earlier Thursday, acting health minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar stated during the cabinet meeting that Egypt has so far administered 53.8 million coronavirus jabs with 20 million citizens being fully immunised and 33.8 million others partially vaccinated.
The minister added that there are currently more than 62 million vaccine doses available for use.
Egypt has imported 116.8 million doses of the Sinopharm, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, according to the minister.
