The ministry added in its daily update that 19 new deaths related to COVID-19 complications were recorded in the past 24 hours nationwide, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 21,836.
The statement reported that 821 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 323,001.
The country has been battling the pandemic's fourth wave since early August.
The health ministry said it has provided the quarantine departments at the country's ports, airports, and crossings over the past year with up to 47 ID NOW COVID-19 test kits -- which allows fast diagnosis within minutes -- and also installed 17 thermal gates at the airports in 2021 as part of its efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The kits were installed in the governorates of Cairo, Aswan, Luxor, Red Sea, South Sinai, Suez, Port Said, Alexandria, Damietta, Assiut, Sohag, and Matrouh, Egypt's state news agency MENA reported on Tuesday, citing the ministry's spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar.
