According to the health ministry, Egypt received 667,100 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine presented by Belgium and Germany.
The donation was made via the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) program in cooperation with the Vaccine Alliance (GAVI).
So far, Egypt tops Africa in its coronavirus vaccine stock from Sinopharm, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
Egypt has obtained a total of 132 million doses of various coronavirus vaccines so far, of which 36.6 million first doses and 24.1 million second doses have been administered, the acting health minister said during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The minister also revealed that 489,700 booster doses have been used, bringing the number of total administered doses to 61.3 million.
