The ministry also reported 41 new deaths in the past 24 hours nationwide, bringing the total fatalities nationwide to 22,330.

The statement added that 1,703 patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 342,762.

Egypt has provided coronavirus vaccine shots to 170,000 citizens in vaccination centres located in malls as well as railway and metro stations, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, the acting health minister, said on Saturday.

This effort comes as part of the ‘Ma’an Natmaen’ (‘Together We re Assured’) inititive that the health ministry launched last December to reach out to citizens seeking to register to receive the coronavirus vaccines nationwide.

The ministry has increased the number of vaccination centres in railway and metro stations as well as malls nationwide to 25, according to a statement by the health ministry on Saturday.

This includes the Cairo metro stations of El-Shohadaa, El-Sadat, Gamal Abdel-Nasser, Attaba, Abbasiya, Shubra, Road El-Farag, Koleyet El-Zeraa, Helwan, Alf Maskan, Saad Zaghloul, and El-Sayeda Zeinab.
